Netflix streaming in HD!!! First on the XBox this November!

I’m so excited! I’m so excited!!! I’m so….. scared…
Not really. I’m just excited, because coming in less than a month Netflix subscribers will finally be able to get HD quality video streams for all their renting needs! At first they used the Netflix box by Roku as Corey summed up a few months past, but then some smart guys figured out how to stream the Netflix account to their Xbox without it. Netflix has since made strides to make an official way to stream rentals to your Xbox, and now they are using the Xbox 360 as the main workhorse to get HD to their customers!!!
So there is a catch, you have to be a Xbox Live! Gold member (which is a 49.99/year subscription service if you don’t shop around for the cards) as well as a Netflix subscriber… but there will be no way else to get it at the moment. As Engadget reported, not even Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” Portal will offer HD Content, only the Xbox 360. On November 19th when Xbox does it’s highly anticipated fall update (which is also overhauling the entire dashboard amongst other things), Netflix HD streaming will go live.
With the price drops of Xbox (now $199 at the lowest tier - cheaper than a Wii!), it’s selection of games, downloadable content, Media Center capabilities, and now this, there is probably no better time to buy an Xbox. Also if you’re like me and have an Xbox but no Netflix subscription, this is the perfect time to join the Netflix family!
Netflix did increase the charge for Blu-Ray DVD rental service by $1 per month, but that’s a small price to pay considering the price Blu-Rays are in stores… no thanks. The old service is still cheap anyways, and now is totally worth it. DVD’s to your home AND Streaming HD.. I totally want to buy 2 buddy bands and give one to Netflix’s CEO.
