Could AT&T’s new cable TV service be better than the rest?!

No really! As a current Verizon FiOS subscriber, standard definition cable boxes are $5/month and a hi-definition cable box with DVR is $20/month. For Comcast, it is $5/month for a standard def. box and a hi-def box with DVR is $22/month. DirectTV has a flat rate of $5/month for each receiver, however, HD channels and DVR packages are at a higher monthly cost.

So where does that leave AT&T’s U-verse TV? Each cable box is standard def and the first box is free but each cable box has DVR! If you want hi-def, it is only an extra $10/month. Additional boxes are only $5/month. How can that be? That almost highway robbery!

But what’s this? You can also customize a dashboard (weather, stocks, sports, traffic info on your own “page”), view photos from Flickr, track Fantasy Football Teams with Yahoo! Sports, browse yellowpages.com and play Yahoo! Games? Seems a little hard to believe, but it appears that AT&T has raised the bar (ha ha get it? If not, it is one of their slogans…) on providing users with more services than just TV.

Here are some extra features:

* Share and watch SD and HD recorded programs with other connected TVs in the home.
* Pause a recorded show and pick up where you left off in another room.
* Play back the same recorded show on different TVs, at different points.
* Play back up to four recorded shows at once. Up to three can be HD recorded programs.
* Organize recorded content by series.
* Enjoy more storage than most cable providers’ DVRs.
* Record more of the show you want to see with soft padding.
* Record up to four programs at once.
* Schedule recordings from any PC or wireless phone.

And here is a video demonstrating AT&T’s U-verse TV Total Home DVR
