Even more Apple Updates

If it sounds like we’re a little obsessed with Apple products here at technewsmadesimple.com, well, it’s because we are.  Everyone except Corey.  He still thinks Apple peaked in 1986 with the IIGS.  But it is true; Apple’s core business of desktops and laptops hasn’t really seen a major overhaul in quite awhile.

Newest Blackberry looks Flippin’ awesome

So we all know a little bit about the Blackberry Bold and Thunder, but the the hottest information in RIM-land is their first EVER flip phone, the 8200 series code-named the KickStart. And by the look of it, I’d say they have been making them for years.

Too Cuil For School And Anyone Who Wants Relevant Searches

There was a great deal of hype building for the new search engine Cuil (pronounced “cool”), which launch on Monday this week.  Unfortunately for Cuil, this hype built up into a PR nightmare that we find happening all too often these days.  At 3PM on Monday, Cuil’s servers crashed.  The site functioned sporatically as it [...]

Weekend Recap - July 28th 2008

Weekend recap but first some quick TNMS updates.
We won’t be publishing the grand opening of the Boston Apple Store video as it is way too big of a file (to edit as well) so instead, I will take screen shots of the store and post additional pictures. But we will have another “How to…” [...]

Intel’s future mobile processor: The Atom

Fudzilla announced yesterday, via Engadget, that Intel’s dual core Atom processor will be released sometime in late September with full product launch sometime in the 4th quarter of 2008, mainly due to the CPU’s high demand. But what is special about Atom? And how will it be the new mobile CPU of future laptops [...]

Cell phones give you cancer!

Apparently it is true. Slashdot reports that Pittsburgh Cancer Center warns that the radiation from cell phones could cause cancer. Now, this isn’t a new story as this myth has been around for years, but read the story for yourself here. The solution? A bluetooth headset! And besides, you need [...]

iTouch my Macbook?

Dirty though that headline may sound, it could be coming sooner than people think.  Actually, that sounded pretty bad too.  Let’s start over.

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to rollout a new series of Macbook products, possibly as soon as October of 2008.  As in… three months from now.  And if the reports are true [...]

Wii Like It, But It’s Still Comcast

The Consumerist has alerted us to a new promotional offer from Comcast. New subscribers who sign up between July 28th and August 17th will receive a frickin’ Nintendo Wii. I really wish that I liked Comcast, because this is a pretty sweet incentive. Unfortunately, they’ve given me more than enough cause to [...]

No Weekend Update but an Update on GoDaddy

If you want a weekly update on tech news, Gizmodo has that covered this weekend.
I’m here to talk about the email I received on Thursday from GoDaddy about the failure to register my newly purchased domain. I received another email from GoDaddy, only this time, it was from the President of this domain seller. [...]

To iPhone or not to iPhone?

Obviously, the dominant story this summer is Apple’s release of the new 3G iPhone.  While there exist plenty of reasons why this remains the must-have gadget of 2008, there are certainly no shortage of reasons to consider waiting for one more model release before making the jump.

Domain SNAFU - GoDaddy flubbed up the release of .me domains

Today was to be the big day for GoDaddy, one of the biggest domain sellers in the world. Today, they were given permission to release the .me domain (just like .com or .net). TechCrunch reports:
Earlier this year GoDaddy won the rights to distribute domains under the extension .me, which belongs to the country [...]

And The Results Are In! iPhone Battery Tests Rundown

The folks at Gizmodo have done a lovely job of rounding up all of the battery tests performed on the new iPhone 3G this week. The results are varied, namely due to the ridiculous combination of things you could be doing with it. One thing that rang true in all tests, however, is [...]

No iPhone news (I didn’t get one) but let’s talk more about the BlackBerry Thunder

No, I didn’t bow down to the Apple/AT&T gods and get a 3G iPhone. To me, it really wasn’t of a need or want. I already have a BlackBerry Pearl and its small profile and Enterprise support through my employer makes it the prime candidate for a cell phone. But will I [...]
