How to build a PC - the parts, the price and the performance (and how to do it of course)

With your empty computer case (mine in the video is not empty as it has the DVD-Burner in it) we can now install the motherboard as well as all of the other components

  • Remove the side panels of the case and put the case on its side with the open chassis facing up
  • Remove the rear I/O panel (if it is already attached) and install the I/O panel that came with your motherboard
  • Carefully install your motherboard assembly by aligning the rear I/O ports with the I/O panel. Be sure to also align the motherboard screw mounts with the mounts on the case
  • Once your motherboard is in place, attach the screws to secure your board to the case
  • Carefully install your power supply in the case. Be sure to note the mounting screw holes for case attachment. Also note where the fans are in relation to case air-flow as the large internal power supply fan should be blowing into the case and not towards the case wall
  • Next, we will install the DVD-burners by removing the front panels of the case (each panel per burner)
  • Insert the DVD-burner into the empty slot and make sure the front bezel is flush with the rest of the front panels
  • Once flush, insert screws on both sides of the burner to set it in place
  • Next, we will install the hard drives into the smaller bays. This can be done by inserting the hard drive (with connectors facing into the case) into the 3.5inch bays from the middle of the case
  • Again, once you have lined up the mounting holes, attach the screws to set the hard drive in place
  • If there are other DVD-burners or hard drives, you can repeat these steps as necessary

Next, we will install the video card and connect the cables.
