How to build a PC - the parts, the price and the performance (and how to do it of course)
As always, be sure to ground yourself and work on a neutral surface.
- To begin, place the motherboard from the static bag on top of your desk/table
- Remove any stickers or labels that may be on your board
- Ground yourself and unlatch the CPU lever
- Open the latch and get your CPU ready by removing the cover
- Align the CPU into the motherboard socket. Be sure to note the pins on the motherboard and align them with the pins underneath the CPU
- Once aligned, place the CPU into the motherboard socket and close the latch
- Pull the lever down and secure the CPU by locking the lever
- Once the CPU is secured in the socket, add some thermal grease to the top of the CPU and spread it thinly around the surface
- Place the CPU cooler on top of the CPU and mount the cooler onto the motherboard
- Plug the CPU cooler power supply onto the motherboard
- Next, take your DIMMs (RAM) and insert them into the 2 channels (same color slots). Make sure that the DIMMs are locked into place
- Your motherboard assembly is finished!
Hopefully you will be able to follow these instructions with the video to give you a better understanding of how to assemble the motherboard, CPU and RAM. Next, we will work on the case and storage drives.
