Weekend Recap - May 26th 2008

Hope everyone has had a relaxing and wonderful long holiday weekend. There are a couple of stories this long weekend that we found interesting and noteworthy. Read them after the jump!

  1. Biggest news of this past weekend was the landing of the Mars Phoenix, NASA’s new Mars probe in search of water and life. Having just landed and has only been on the surface for under 24 hours, Phoenix’s 10 month journey as come to a successful end.

  2. Second story is the upcoming new 3G iPhone. Yes 3G! 3G is the 3rd generation of network internet connection for wireless phones. It enables you to check email, visit websites and download music. Since most phones are already 3G moving towards 4G, the iPhone is making a huge leap from its original EDGE network to 3G, increasing download speeds and website loading speeds. But does this new upgrade make it worth purchasing, especially if you have an original iPhone.

  3. Third and last story of this long weekend is the rumor of a dual-core Atom processor. Intel’s Atom processor is a very small, energy and cost efficient CPU that will replace a lot of the newer notebook CPUs. Because of its small size, it will make future laptops lighter, and with the processor’s low power consumption, it will increase battery life. A dual-core Atom will not only make this processor faster and more powerful, it will maintain its energy efficiency and small physical profile. This is great news for future cell phone devices and laptops as they will be considerably cheaper but more powerful.
